Free Remote Sensing Workshop for Middle & High School Students

Event Description
Dive into the fascinating world of remote sensing at the Idlewild Environmental Learning Center! This 7-week workshop series introduces students to cutting-edge techniques that scientists use to study Earth's environment. Learn how light and its interaction with matter can help detect environmental changes in the atmosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere—and how you can contribute to protecting our planet.

Workshop Details:
- Middle School Sessions (Tuesdays): Hands-on research activities with an introduction to computer-based techniques. (Laptops provided)
                Dates: November 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th; December 3rd, 10th, 17th
- High School Sessions (Fridays): Dive deeper into computer-based research techniques, including data analysis. (Laptops provided, but bringing your own is encouraged.

                Dates: November 1st, 8th, 12th; December 6th, 13th, 20th

Paerdegat Basin Park
Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City.
