Junior Naturalist: Winter Science Sampler

This event repeats every week on Tuesday and Thursday between 12/3/2024 and 12/19/2024.

CALLING ALL 3rd, 4th and 5th graders! Explore the wonders of winter in this hands-on nature program! 

Young naturalists will uncover how plants and animals adapt to the cold through fun experiments, outdoor adventures, and creative activities. Join us for a frosty season of discovery!

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 pm (December 3rd - 19th)

Where: Idlewild Environmental Center

For: Children ages 8 to 10, Grades 3 to 5 

FREE workshop. RSVP required to participate!

Paerdegat Basin Park
Ecology Park is a five acre site set within Paerdegat Basin Park. The goal of the park is to promote habitat restoration and ecological improvement, highlighting fourteen native plant community types that exist or once existed in New York City.

Ecology Park is only open at certain times of year when Parks staff are present in order to protect this unique landscape. Want to visit? Check out our Stewardship Projects page for restoration, planting, and educational events.
