NYC PARKS ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HEARING AND OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMENT ON PROPOSED NEW PARKS RULE

Proposed new rule will keep sidewalks clear by prohibiting vendor storage along park perimeters when vending is not taking place, aligning vending storage rules throughout the city

NYC Parks today announced it will hold a public hearing on June 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. for a proposed new rule to prohibit storage of vending-related property on park-adjacent sidewalks when vending is not taking place. New Yorkers have an opportunity to submit comments on the proposed new rule beginning this May 24, 2024; comment submissions will be accepted until June 25, 2024.

The proposed rule would:

Prohibit vendors from storing vending related materials, whether attended or unattended, on sidewalks that are adjacent to parks and other property within the jurisdiction of NYC Parks when vending is not taking place.

Not affect individuals who are not vendors.

Not impact vendors’ ability to actively vend as described in paragraph (b) of section 1-05 of Chapter 1, Title 56 of the Rules of the City of New York.
